talking about service feedback,

pls dun give feedbacks like

"oh its great."

"oh service is good. p/w is good."

"aircon cold"

this feedback is for you members and leaders to realise what God has spoken to us, for leaders to see if ur members understood the sermon and how it has impacted their lives.

service feedback is not so much for the pastoral team to "improve on ourselves, the aircon, the seats, the sound, the music" but MORE for YOU ALL TO REALISE WHAT GOD HAS DONE among us!

its ok to tell us about the music, the lighting, the aircon.

but what about what God has spoken to you??

isn't this the most important? i'm sure God has spoken and worked in us during p/w and sermons.

its either we always forget to write what God has touched us in or spoken to us,

or we are jus there for the lights, music, sound, atmosphere, aircon.

here's an example of a good feedback and it shows how much Jayme, a new member from weiwei's group appreciated what God was speaking to her 

jayme: wa piang! praise and worship was really awesome! i can really feel God's presence in me! i almost felt like dying again. i wanted to cry, i wanted to laugh, i wanted to scream and yell and shout for God! i want to be crazy about Him! He's so real! I love Him! sermon - impacted my mind. i think that we should think about what Pastor had shared. is our lives more important than God's will, or what? it strucked me, like the sermon was meant for me. i was always: me, myself and i, not Him, His, His will. i've learnt that i need to improve myself that always put God's will in front of everything else, and always seek Him before anything. i have a lot more to type arh, but i dunno what to write. -.-

ironically, the older members give feedback like:

"everything is good.
this week service was good.

air con quite cold, pnw abit loud

everything was great.except perhaps the sermon was a little too deep. turning it quite boring.

chim sermon but good.

service was really good. i love the praise and worship. the sound effects were great."

BORING?? SERMON BORING? so God doesnt speak thru a boring sermon? or He doesnt speak thru bad lightings?  

seriously, u dun have to use fancy language or think very hard for service feedback if u were really paying attention  N ABSORBING WHAT GOD IS TELLING YOU.

similarly, u dun have to use very fancy language to show me that you were not really absorbing what God was speaking, or you were just simply not paying attention, or maybe just simply you have lost the passion and hunger to hear God.

REKINDLE THAT PASSION TO WANT TO HEAR GOD!

isaac (from cherie's group) and i were toking abt how young ppl like to get themselves emo all over. by the way, EMO means emotional.

i jus cant understand it.

i see gers (even guys) putting up fotos of themselves crying on friendster, and showing the whole world captions like,"sadness", or"my tears" .

and then i can literally imagine them blasting chinese sad sad songs and dwelling in their own pity.

and as the lyrics of "why did u leave me?" "im so tired of love" "i hate u! u r bad!" go thru their mind, i can see them sinking deeper and deeper into sorrow.

serene (from archers) once told me her fren asked her on MSN for SAD SAD CHINESE SONGS.....i mean...come on...doesnt she wan JOY? and happiness????????? haha! so nice la..i mean joy and happiness.

serene u shld have jus renamed a christian file song "sad sad" and send it to ur fren. and to ur fren's horror when she opens the file, its a JOYOUS CHRISTIAN SONG!

then there are young ppl who cut themselves....................... i mean...wake up! why do u wan to do this? do u remember how u ppl were so innocent when u all first came out of ur mom's womb! why do these pervertic and sick actions? dun tell me u all r perverts..... then as they stare at their blood, they feel sad, they feel great!

then there are those angsty I-HATE-THIS-CRAP-WORLD kinda teenagers.

u can see them using their friendster to convey their feelings..... and blogs..and the way they dress and speak and walk

WAKE UP TOO LA! i mean if u really hate this world.......................u should jus throw away all ur branded shirts, pants, bags, ear rings, studs, hair, and go live in a mountain. but then again, mountains r from this world too. so u can jus go to space. where does all ur money come from? to pay ur internet so u can go online and convey ur hate-this-world messages? where does ur money for ur clothes and house and hair come from? most probably ur parents who love u all so much!

i dun understand! why do ppl like to dwell in pity and sadness?

i think i got 2 reasons.

first - gain attention. but dun they noe that the attention they r attractin are reactions like "ewww..sick.", "i think this guy is mad", or "why he wallow in self pity..so sad" ....like those young ppl who switch on their fone to loudspeakers playing their "angsty and cheesy" songs....they r jus being public nuisances.

second - they think its cool... like feeling sad, looking dirty and evil like satan from hell is cool. with make up smeared on the eyelids and face and looking like u nv bathed for 2 years, thats cool? or sitting on the train with ur frens but with i-pod ear plugs in ur ears listening to sad songs? cool.?

oh man..christians...pls....DUN LET ME CATCH U ALL DOING ALL THESE AND HAVING SELF-PITY THOUGHTS! christians have the joy and light of God, which are given to you by Jesus' death on the cross!

christians, go tell them about the gospel. these self pity wallowing teenagers are destroying their own lives. wake them up to the JOY AND LIGHT OF JESUS CHRIST!

the idea of feminism states that both males and females are equal.

feminism means that females and males should be given equal chances for job interviews, be given equal pay, and be treated equally in every culture.

feminism also seeks to protect females from rape, abuse by men.

just a few days ago, i was talking to fellow soldier in camp. we were talking about music. i told him that all non-christian songs were self-centred, focusing on self, self-worth, self-love, and self-emotions. he argued that christian songs are self-centred too, but it was a baseless statement from him. he kept quiet after i told him that christian songs are not self-centred, that the very centre theme of christian song IS ANOTHER PERSON, called Jesus Christ.

after which we talked about God, and the Trinity. he kept opposing the idea that Jesus is God. he claims that, Jesus is a sub-God. i was kind of taken aback, because he is a catholic.

then we went on to talk about the Bible. he began to imply to me that Christians are male-dominant people and that the Christian world is a patriach society. (a patriach society is a society dominated and ruled by men. and women are deemed as not important).

he thinks that christians do not treat men and women equally, and that the Bible states that men and women are NOT EQUAL, that God favours the males over the females.  he was trying to tell me about feminism, but in a very distorted view.

i immediately rejected his idea and argument by quoting a few verses from the Bible, that tells us that God never favoured males over females and that God treats both genders equally.

here are some verses:

GENESIS 2:18 And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

comparable in the english sense means -

Possessing the same or almost the same characteristics: alike, analogous, corresponding, equivalent, like, parallel, similar, uniform. (http://www.answers.com/topic/comparable)

on the day of Pentecost in the book of acts, when the Holy Spirit fell, the prophet Joel said, "The day will come when the Holy Spirit comes upon His people, God’s people, and young men and young women shall prophesy (preach)."

GALATIANS 3:28, “In Christ now there is neither bond nor free, Scythian nor Barbarian, male nor female; all are one in Christ Jesus.” 

so how can my friend say that God favours the males over the females? yes, people were living in a patriachial society before Jesus came. males WERE regarded as more important than females. but was that God's way or human's way? for what i know, our God clearly regards both males and females as equal.  Jesus came and died on the cross to destroy the idea of "males are more powerful than females" in society by GALATIANS3:28.

now then my friend started to argue on why must the father, the male, be the head of the house?

why can't the female be the head of the house?

i told him that SOMEONE has to be the head of the house, to lead the house. so God chose men.

then he said, "why not women?"

and then the Holy Spirit suddenly prompted me. the still small voice in my heart told me, "your friend has a very distorted view of leadership."

that was it! i began to explain to him that he might have a distorted idea of what leadership is like.

to him, leadership is "the leader is the one in control.", " the leader always right.", "the leader has all authority and all power to do what he or she wants".

but is this the kind of leadership that the Bible teaches? No. look at Jesus. He is a King. He was a King but He came to serve people. He washed His disciples' feet, which was considered and still is considered a very degrading act. He had thousands upon thousands of followers, but He did not teach them to revolt against the Roman Empire. He had all authority in heaven and on earth but He chose to die a shameful death on the Cross.

so if my friend could see that leadership is about serving, that the father in the house, the male, has to serve and love and humble himself, would he then have a problem with the male leading the house?

God is a fair God. He loves both men and women. men and women should strive to be equal in the good things of God. the women should not think that if men can do things like extra-marital affairs, drinking, smoking, fighting, abuse etc, then they can too, because these are sin in God's eyes. instead, we should strive towards equality in preaching, teaching, leading, and contributing to the society positively, which God has always intended.

Jesus Christ was a Radical feminist, visiting Martha and Mary, letting Mary Magdalene worship Him face to face, and tearing the VEIL of the temple and destroying the temple which was structured in a way that only the males can enter to worship God intimately. 

in the Old Testament, women were used equally by God to accomplish certain things. God used a female spy to aid the people of God to conquer the enemies' land. God uses queen Esther to set His people free. in the New Testament, the Son of God came through a woman named Mary. He bestowed on her the authority and the great privilege to parent the Son of God.

women, as far as i know, were intended by God to be equal with men.
